42' x 46' Belmont Saratoga Barn, Cohasset, MA

Our Saratoga Post & Beam Barn Series was inspired by the traditional center aisle horse barn. Near the Massachusetts shoreline, you’ll find a 42' x 46' Belmont Saratoga Barn that takes the traditional horse barn to a new level. What sets this barn apart is the unique blend of historic timber frame craftsmanship with modern technology and design, giving the barn a contemporary appearance while still paying homage to a time-honored craft. This luxurious barn, stained black on the outside, is home to three stalls, a wash bay, a spacious tack room, and a second floor hay loft. Two 24' reverse gable dormers adorn the roof of this barn, each with a timber truss accent. These same timber truss accents can be found in the gable ends of the barn. These, along with the timber frame eyebrow roofs and sliding barn doors, contrast stunningly with the black-stained vertical pine siding. Gooseneck lights and Anderson 400 series windows bring light to the inside and outside of the barn, and at the roof’s peak, a copper top cupola with a horse weathervane brings the entire look together. Four Dutch doors with powder coated steel on the top half are found on this barn, with three leading into stalls and one leading into an open bay. Two sets of sliding doors, both 12' x 8', abut each end of the barn’s center aisle. A set of Spanish Cedar double doors leads into the barn’s tack room.

A Beautiful Backdrop for a Day in the Pool

The center aisle design of this post & beam barn makes a statement, drawing your eye through the spacious first floor. Three stalls inside provide comfortable shelter for the two horses. Next to the stalls, necessary equipment for their maintenance is kept, like shavings and rakes. Across the way lies a washing bay for the horses, complete with a hose, a sink, and a large drain in the floor. Farther down lies the tack room, where riding equipment is kept, along with food, grain, and treats. Our staff photographer tells us the horses, Gatsby and Ronan, love peppermints! Upstairs, the second floor loft is U-shaped, and stores hay. The loft offers a great aerial view of the lower barn. This barn is a true authentic timber frame barn—built entirely using timber frame construction—with mortise & tenon joinery visible everywhere you look.

Minimalist Carriage Barn

A unique choice of doors on this 24' x 58' Plymouth Carriage Barn creates the illusion of there being no doors at all. Four 9' x 8' hinged, insulated double barn doors sit flush with the reclaimed barn board siding. Inside, glulam tie beams span 24', preventing the need for center posts. Cars are parked inside with plenty of space to spare. The customer opted for a partial loft, which overlooks the main barn and creates more vertical space within. Read on for a photo tour.
