1,900 sq. ft Timber Frame Barn, Massachusetts

Inspired by Daryl’s House—a restaurant and live music club belonging to Daryl Hall of the legendary Hall & Oates—this 1,900 sq. ft. custom timber frame barn is a place for performing and recording music. The 22' x 24' main barn, with soaring ceilings and clear span timber trusses, is a studio and stage in one. Attached is a 24' x 28' two-story section, with a two-bay garage on the first floor and a loft with entertainment on the second floor. These two sections of the barn are joined by two entry doors on the first floor and a Juliet balcony up above. This barn truly has it all. Read on for a full photo tour.

Blue and red tones make up this barn’s exterior, from the pine siding and trim, the shake siding, the windows and doors, and even the shingles. Two pine-faced overhead doors lead into the garage, with a pine entry door off the side leading in, as well. In the studio, sliding barn doors open to reveal a set of double doors. Andersen 400 Series windows, including awning and double hung windows, can be found throughout the barn, from the first floor all the way to the custom timber frame cupola. Gooseneck lights and copper gutters complete the exterior.

Inside the studio, clear span timber trusses frame the ceiling, eliminating the need for any interior posts. Authentic timber frame joinery using mortise & tenon connections is on display everywhere you look. To the right, you will see the Juliet balcony in the loft, which overlooks the studio. Two entry doors lead to the garage, which can easily accommodate two cars. Head upstairs to the loft, where you’ll find a pool table and shuffleboard. Guests can enjoy a game or two upstairs while listening to the music from the studio through the balcony.

A 24' x 32' Plymouth Carriage Barn serves several uses on this property, thanks to its placement on a hill. The first floor has two overhead doors, making it the ideal garage, and upstairs, the barn is used as a pool house, with French doors leading to the backyard. Let’s take a closer look.
